来自viola，中提琴，-in，小词后缀。violin小提琴中经纪提琴在英语中叫viol，它源自拉丁语vitula，意大利语作viola，今被用以指“中提琴”。16世纪末英语吸收了viola的指小词violino，将其英语化为violin，用以指“小提琴”。在这以前，即从1205年起该乐器一直被称以fiddle。若究其根源，fiddle也来源于拉丁文vitula。在罗马神话中Vitula原指“欢乐和胜利女神”。=相关词汇
